AZ Arizona requires a total of 96 months of education and/or experience. If the applicant has a 5 year degree and IDP, that will suffice. If not, then extra experience may be needed.

HI IDP alone is sufficient with a NAAB-accredited degree or the equivalent, but additional years of experience are required for other degrees or no degree.

VA The only instance when IDP completion alone would not satisfy the Board's experience requirement is if IDP were to be completed in less than 3 years. The Board's regulations require completion of IDP and 36 months of experience/training with at least 12 months (of the 36 months required) as an employee in the office of a licensed architect.

IL Illinois has a 3-year eligibility where the applicant must meet the Illinois Act and Rules. Every 3 years the applicant must be reviewed (both Direct Registration and CTS applicants) in order to be re-authorized to take the exams. This is NOT a rolling clock. Until January 1, 2014, Illinois will accept a pre-professional degree that leads directly into a NAAB accredited degree. The applicant must have completed the ARE and submitted an application to the Department prior to January 1, 2014. This requirement in the Act has been in place since 2005.

RI Rhode Island is a Direct Registration state. There is no application. The applicant must request NCARB to transmit the record to the Board. When the Board receives the NCARB record, it is presented to the Board for approval. After Board approval, the applicant is notified by mail of the Board approval and requested to submit the $60 initial registration fee and a tax payer status affidavit. Upon receipt, initial registration is issued.
