In a continued effort to engage the international community, NCARB hosted representatives from Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute (TJUPDI) last week.

In response to shifting demographics and rapid change in the architectural profession, the Five Presidents Council convened at NCARB headquarters in Washington, DC, with the goal of building new paths in collateral cooperation

The NCARB communications team has received three Hermes Creative Awards.

In April 2013, the NCARB Board of Directors approved the new Broadly Experienced Architect (BEA) Program fee schedule, effective immediately, in order to provide some relief to BEA applicants

ARE candidates will soon have the option of sitting for the exam in major commercial markets outside of the United States and Canada. NCARB is finalizing negotiations to make the exam available through Prometric test centers located in London, England; Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China (PRC); and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates beginning in early fall 2013.

The NCARB Board of Directors met to review potential modifications to the Intern Development Program (IDP), review the Broadly Experience Architect (BEA) Program fee structure, and vote on resolutions that will be presented to Member Boards at the Annual Meeting in June.

After a successful beta test, NCARB is excited to offer a cloud-based practice programs service to ARE candidates.

April 2013

The Internship Report, the second in a special series of publications from NCARB, presents data and key insights that will allow the Council to undertake a fresh and comprehensive review of how architectural internship serves as an important bridge connecting education with licensure.

The AIA and NCARB conducted an Internship and Career Survey that revealed that there is a steady rise in employment for intern architects, along with a general sense of optimism in the future of employment prospects for the architecture profession.

The NAAB met in a special session in April to elect four new directors, including NCARB Past President Scott C. Veazey, AIA, NCARB of Evansville, IN.

March 2013

A series of special reports from NCARB will share education, internship, examination, and continuing education-related findings from its 2012 Practice Analysis of Architecture. The Education Report is now available to download and presents data and key insights relevant to architectural education.

February 2013

Last week, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated 122 of its members to its College of Fellows. An NCARB Past President and two volunteers were included in this year’s inductees.

NCARB has released its contribution the National Architectural Accrediting Boards’ (NAAB) 2013 Accreditation Review Conference (ARC).

Richard M. Monahan Jr., AIA, NCARB, was a member of the State of New Hampshire Board of Architects from 2006-2013.

January 2013

On January 13, NCARB President Ron Blitch, FAIA, NCARB, FACHA, led the Board of Directors through a meeting that immediately followed Com6, a joint committee meeting that encompasses six committees with inter-related work.

Six NCARB committees met in Orlando January 10-12 to discuss common charges and exchange information on their research and progress.

December 2012

On December 6-8, the NCARB Board of Directors met in New York City to focus on several key issues related to the Strategic Plan, the ARE®, the Practice Analysis, and the Council’s contribution to the NAAB's Accreditation Review Conference (ARC).

NCARB welcomed 12 interns from across the country to Washington, DC for the first Intern Think Tank to analyze the Intern Development Program’s (IDP) real-world implementation and effectiveness, explore blue-sky ideas related to internship, and share ideas with the Council's leadership.

A new video series, Destination: Architect, from NCARB aims to demystify the licensure process for emerging professionals. Each video maps out a key licensure requirement and highlights what to know before getting started.

November 2012

This is the final week of NCARB’s Fall Fee Relief offer. NCARB is waiving all past renewal fees from prior years for anyone who reactivates a Record or Certificate before the end of November 2012.
