The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) is a global leader in architectural regulation, dedicated to assisting the U.S. licensing boards, providing key data about the path to licensure, and protecting the public’s health, safety, and welfare.
We are a nonprofit organization made up of the architectural licensing boards of the 55 U.S. states and territories. While each jurisdiction is responsible for regulating the practice of architecture within its borders, NCARB supports the boards by developing and administering national programs for licensure candidates and architects. We recommend and encourage licensure standards for the 55 licensing boards, who then issue licenses to applicants who meet their specific registration requirements.
