Year in Review
Get a glimpse of NCARB’s inner workings with our updated Bylaws, financial results, and summary of this year’s resolutions.
Bylaws
With updates and improvements to all of our major programs—including preparation for the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) 5.0, the launch of the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), and increased benefits to the NCARB Certificate—we have been hard at work advancing our services to the architecture community. The results of this work can be seen in the documents below, which demonstrate the important decisions made by our Member Boards and their effect on our Bylaws, our solid financial position, and the continued growth of our organization.
NCARB’s organization structure, functions, and processes are governed by our Bylaws. The Bylaws are updated in July after Member Board Members vote on potential amendments at the Annual Business Meeting.
Each year, our Member Boards propose and vote on new resolutions, refining our recommended standards to better serve the needs of our Member Board and customers. In FY16, delegates at the Annual Business Meeting voted to approve a Mutual Recognition Arrangement with Australia and New Zealand, made several changes to NCARB’s official documents, which offer recommendations on how states can facilitate licensure. This year’s updates include suggestions regarding emeritus status for retired architects and registration requirements for military personnel.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, NCARB has a staff of nearly 100 who work to provide the best possible service to our customers and our Member Boards. The staff, consisting of both architects and non-architects, is divided into seven directorates that provide a wealth of diverse experiences and skill sets to the organization.
We provide our Member Board Members with a yearly summary of the organization’s financial results at the Annual Business Meeting, including the year-end results, next fiscal year’s budget, and organizational fees.
