The Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) is now being delivered through NCARB's new vendor, PSI. Here is everything you need to know about navigating the new Exams tab and scheduling with PSI.
Explore the New Exams Tab
With the migration to PSI, NCARB updated the interface within the “Exams” tab of your NCARB Record to have a new look and feel. The first time you log in, you’ll see a pop-up on your screen that will walk you through the basic changes. Here’s what you should know:
- You’ll see a header that reads “All Divisions” at the top of the page. There will be a square for each individual division that lists your rolling clock information and links to past score reports, if applicable.
- Once you start scheduling appointments, any scheduled divisions will show up at the top of the page, so your appointment information is easy to find.
- At the bottom of the page, you’ll see additional resources and information, including:
- The option to purchase exam seats/seat credits (you can also purchase as part of the scheduling process with PSI)
- Any existing accommodations, which will automatically migrate from Prometric
- The new Practice Exam Dashboard—the new Dashboard features a full-length, scored practice exam. When the divisional practice exams launch later this year, they will be added to the Practice Exam Dashboard. Note: the publicly available Demo Exam is not scored.
How to Schedule an Exam With PSI
Ready to schedule an exam with PSI? Under the Exams tab in your NCARB Record, navigate to the “All Divisions” section and click “Schedule Division.” Then follow the prompts. For a more comprehensive overview, watch these videos about scheduling test center and online proctored appointments:
You can see PSI test center locations and appointment availability by navigating to the Exams tab within your NCARB Record and selecting an ARE 5.0® division to schedule, which will launch the ARE scheduler. Once you are in the scheduler, you will be asked to input a location to find your nearest PSI test center.
When searching for online proctored appointments, be sure you are selecting the time zone you wish to test in.
