Architect Spotlight is a series on NCARB’s blog. We regularly feature recently licensed architects, who answer questions about their experience navigating the licensure path and offer advice for emerging professionals.

This person-focused series highlights the unique, inspiring individuals who are shaping their communities and the built environment through architecture. It also explores a variety of careers within the architecture profession, from public service to running your own firm.

There aren’t many requirements for being featured in our Architect Spotlight series, but you must have a license to practice architecture in a U.S. jurisdiction. Here are some other nice-to-have elements that can help make an engaging Architect Spotlight article:

  • You were licensed within the last three years. Whether becoming an architect is just the first step in your professional life or a late-career goal, we want to hear how you got to where you are today.
  • You have advice to share. Have insight into completing the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), or study tips for the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®)? Our readers are always looking for tips from people who’ve successfully navigated the path.
  • You love architecture. Shaping the built environment is a big responsibility. Tell us what made you want to serve the people around you by becoming an architect!
  • You faced some challenges on the path to licensure. Becoming an architect isn’t easy—tell us what obstacles you overcame and how you stayed motivated on your journey to becoming an architect.
