How do I change my testing jurisdiction/jurisdiction for initial licensure?

Log in to My NCARB and navigate to the Exams tab in your NCARB Record. On the ARE Overview page, select “Switch My Testing Jurisdiction." Verify your Record information, read the disclaimers about switching jurisdictions, and select “Continue” at the bottom of the page. Then, select your new testing jurisdiction from the dropdown menu and follow the prompts to complete the process. Keep in mind, each jurisdiction sets its own requirements regarding when you can test. 

How do I change my name on my NCARB Record?

You can submit requests to change your legal name in your NCARB Record. Navigate to the Profile tab in your Settings to submit a request. You will need to upload a copy of your state-issued ID and the legal name change document (such as a marriage certificate or divorce decree) to support your request.

How do I change a submitted AXP report to another supervisor?

To change the supervisor of a submitted report, login to your NCARB Record and select the submitted report you would like to edit. Click “change” next to supervisor, and either select the correct supervisor from the drop-down menu or input information for a new supervisor. 

How do I apply for licensure in another state or territory?

Architects can easily apply for licensure in another state or territory (also known as a jurisdiction) through your NCARB Record. Simply select the "New Transmittal Request” button under the “Licenses” tab and follow the instructions on your screen.  Please note that some jurisdictions require you to submit a jurisdiction-specific application.

How do I apply for an NCARB Certificate?

There are two ways to apply for NCARB certification. If you are new to NCARB, simply select the “Add” button under the “NCARB Record” tab. If you are renewing an existing NCARB Record, you can apply for an NCARB Certificate when you add a new registration. Once you have met all of the requirements for certification, we will evaluate your Record. Learn more about applying for an NCARB Certificate.

How do I add or edit my license information in my NCARB Record?

Sign into your NCARB Record, navigate to the “Registrations” tab, and click “Add Registration.” You must have your license/registration number, the date your license was received, and expiration date to add it to your account.

You can access the free ARE 5.0 Demonstration Exam, which includes 75 items from across the six ARE 5.0 divisions, at ncarb.org/demoexam.

How can I get involved with NCARB?

There are two key ways to get involved with NCARB. You can volunteer for your state licensing board or join an NCARB committee. While most committee members are members of state licensing boards, NCARB does call for volunteers to serve on the Think Tank, Re-Think Tank, additional focus groups, and some ARE development-related committees. The most accurate way for candidates to find PSI test centers near them that offer the ARE is through the exam scheduling tool, which is available through My NCARB. This tool allows candidates to see test centers near them that are available for the date and time they are attempting to schedule.
