Chicago, IL—Kevin J. Singh, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, of Ruston, Louisiana, was elected as one of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board’s (NCARB) first-ever at-large directors during the 2024 NCARB Annual Business Meeting. Chair of the architecture program at Louisiana Tech University, Singh brings the perspective of a full-time educator to NCARB’s national leadership team—as well as that of a licensing board member who pursued a non-traditional path to NCARB leadership.
Previously, NCARB’s Bylaws required that all individuals serving on the Board of Directors must have served two years on one of the 55 U.S. architectural licensing boards; this path typically included several years serving in regional leadership prior to joining the Board of Directors. But an update passed in 2023 added two new at-large director positions to the Board, opening up greater flexibility and creating more pathways to leadership. This change enabled Singh to pursue a position on the FY25 Board of Directors. As an educator, Singh will provide critical insights during important discussions with the organization responsible for accrediting architecture programs, the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).
First appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners in 2019, Singh serves as the board’s chair in 2024. Singh has offered his time and expertise on multiple NCARB volunteer efforts, including as a member and later chair of the organization’s Education Committee. Most recently, Singh served as a member of the organization’s Licensure Process Research & Development Task Force, which is exploring new ways to assess candidates’ competency to practice architecture.
Singh is the chair of the architecture program and a professor at Louisiana Tech University’s School of Design. He has served as the director of the Community Design Activism Center (CDAC) since 2006 and is the school’s faculty architect licensing advisor. In addition, Singh practices as a sole proprietor, designing residential and commercial projects in Louisiana.
Singh earned his Master of Building Construction from Auburn University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Ball State University, where he was recognized with an Outstanding Alumni award. Singh holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity and is licensed to practice in Louisiana.

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards’ membership is made up of the architectural licensing boards of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. NCARB, in collaboration with these boards, facilitates the licensure and credentialing of architects to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
