Chicago, IL— Edward W. Tucker, FAIA, NCARB, of Huntington, West Virginia, was elected as a regional director at the National Council of Architectural Registration Board’s (NCARB) 2024 Annual Business Meeting. Tucker was nominated to serve on the NCARB Board of Directors by Region 2 (Mid-Atlantic Conference), which represents the licensing boards of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Tucker was appointed to the West Virginia Board of Architects in 2014, and served as the secretary until 2022. He was elected as the vice chair/treasurer of the Region 2 Board in 2020, and to the chair position in 2022.

As a dedicated volunteer, Tucker has served on the Regional Realignment Work Group; the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee; and the Architect Registration ExaminationÒ (ARE®) 5.0 Item Development Subcommittee. He also served on regional leadership committees and the Architectural Experience ProgramÒ (AXP®) Portfolio Audit Committee. 

Tucker is one of three principals at Edward Tucker Architects, is on the board of the West Virginia Foundation for Architecture, and is on several committees with the Huntington Federal Savings Bank. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee and is licensed in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio.

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards’ membership is made up of the architectural licensing boards of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. NCARB, in collaboration with these boards, facilitates the licensure and credentialing of architects to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.  

To achieve these goals, NCARB works with its Member Boards and volunteers to develop and facilitate standards for licensure, including the national examination and experience program.
