Edward Tucker, FAIA, NCARB, of Huntington, West Virginia, has been a member of the West Virginia Board of Architects since 2014. He was elected Vice-Chair/Treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Region (Region 2) in 2020, Chair in 2022, and has facilitated three of Region 2’s Student, Educator, and Practitioner Symposia. His NCARB committee service includes the Regional Realignment Work Group; the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee; and six years with the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) 5.0 Item Development Subcommittee. He also served on regional leadership committees and the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) Portfolio Audit Committee. In 2024, he was elected director of Region 2 at NCARB’s Annual Business Meeting.

As the founder and principal of Edward Tucker Architects since 1996, Ed’s career includes a diverse background of project experience in health care, higher education, historic preservation/adaptive reuse, and Appalachian community re-building through government- and NGO-funded projects. Having transitioned management and ownership to a women-led team, he continues to guide the firm through mentoring younger staff, monitoring design delivery, and providing quality control.

Ed earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee in 1982. He was chair of Huntington’s Planning Commission for 10 years, a Trustee of the Huntington Museum of Art, and has been a Director of Huntington Federal Savings Bank since 2009. He was President of AIA West Virginia and was later elected to a three-year term as Director from the Virginias Region on AIA’s Board. He is an NCARB Certificate holder and is licensed to practice in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky.
