Shannon Himes was appointed the Executive Director of the Ohio Architects Board and the Ohio Landscape Architects Board in September of 2018. Ms. Himes has spent the past 20 years in government service in both legal and administrative roles, regulating a variety of professions and regulatory matters, including: securities licensing and enforcement; wage and hour enforcement; commercial construction industry professional licensing and enforcement; building systems inspections, permitting, and enforcement; building department inspection, permitting, and enforcement; and building code matters.
In 2019, Himes began volunteering for NCARB as part of the Member Board Executives Committee. She served for four years on the committee, first as a member and later as the Member Board Executive Committee Chair. She has also served as a member on the Competency Task Force, helping evaluate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that should be required at the point of initial licensure for architects. Himes was elected Member Board Executive Director at NCARB’s 2024 Annual Business Meeting.
Himes graduated from the Ohio State University in 1993 with a degree in psychology and from the University of Cincinnati in 1997 with a degree in law. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio and was a litigator in the private sector before entering government service as an administrative law judge/hearing officer.
