Jared N. Zurn, AIA, NCARB, CAE, is responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating program outcomes, and implementing data-driven improvements to maximize impact. Zurn ensures that all initiatives are aligned with NCARB's strategic objectives, delivering greater value to members and stakeholders and increasing the speed and effectiveness of program implementation. He is a key voice in shaping NCARB's future direction, ensuring that our programs are at the forefront of advancing our mission and vision.
Zurn has been influential at NCARB since 2008. He has been involved in exam development and evolution spanning three versions of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®), overseeing all aspects of exam development, operations, and security. During his tenure, Zurn has led the introduction of online-proctored testing and has conducted comprehensive research into exam fairness and the impact of examination policies and content on candidate performance.
Before joining NCARB, Zurn operated a sole proprietorship in northwest Minnesota. He also served as faculty of the Architectural Technology program and Division Chair at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, where he led in the areas of curriculum development, course assessment, and program outcome assessment.
Zurn earned his professional architecture degree from North Dakota State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Old Dominion University, and is a Certified Association Executive.
