Michelle Cohn joined NCARB in 2014 and serves as the Assistant Vice President of Examination Content Development. With experience on all aspects of exam development and operations, Michelle leads the ongoing creation of new content for the Architect Registration Exam® (ARE®). She and her team support over 100 volunteers on exam-related committees, providing training and guidance to ensure the exam is a valid and fair assessment. Michelle also participates in Council outreach efforts to universities and the profession, promoting the value of licensure to candidates throughout the licensure process.
Prior to joining NCARB, Michelle worked for 14 years as a designer, architect, and project manager at firms in the DC area. Her work included institutional, mixed-use, residential, and affordable housing projects across all phases of design and construction. Michelle earned a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University. She’s a licensed architect in Washington, DC, holds the NCARB Certificate, and is certified as a Project Management Professional.
