NCARB regularly explores new ways to help students understand the steps they need to take to become an architect. Recently, we partnered with the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) to co-host several Destination Architect webinar sessions, sharing details future architects need to know to prepare for a successful career.
AIAS and NCARB experts—including AIAS President Jordan Luther, AIAS, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, and NCARB Outreach Manager Emily Anderson, AIA, NOMA, NCARB—shared an overview of basic licensure components, including education, the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), and the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®).
Destination Architect Webinar Series
During the webinar, panelists shared essential information, providing a full overview of the licensure path and offering tips and resources, including the following:
- How to understand experience requirements. The AXP Guidelines provide a full overview of the requirements for completing the AXP, including details on reporting experience and other key policies.
- Where to get the support and guidance you need. Architect licensing advisors guide and support candidates on their path to licensure. Use the Licensing Advisor Lookup Tool to find your local licensing advisor to help you on your path to licensure!
- Exploring state licensing requirements. Since each state—also called a jurisdiction—has specific requirements for licensure, the Licensing Requirement Tool helps you explore what your preferred state requires for licensure.
- How to navigate entry-level architecture roles. As you begin to explore entry-level roles, use the Licensure Candidate Guide to help you find employers that support your licensure goals.
Plus, panelists shared insight on navigating professional relationships to gain meaningful experience, exploring ways to earn experience hours, and more! Attendees also had the chance to have their questions answered by panelists during a live Q&A session. Looking to take the next steps toward architectural licensure?
