How can I find the closest PSI test center near me?

The most accurate way for candidates to find PSI test centers near them that offer the ARE is through the exam scheduling tool, which is available through My NCARB. This tool allows candidates to see test centers near them that are available for the date and time they are attempting to schedule.

How can I confirm my testing setup meets the online proctoring requirements before my online exam appointment?

NCARB offers a free “test run” resource that allows you to schedule a 30-minute trial appointment with a live proctor. During this time, you’ll go through the exam check-in process to confirm your computer and testing space meet the requirements for online proctoring. Learn more.

How are “years of experience” calculated if I am reporting experience for a jurisdiction with a duration requirement?

If your jurisdiction has a minimum employment duration requirement for initial licensure, your years of experience are calculated based on each report's start and end date and the average hours worked per week. If your jurisdiction has a three-year requirement, you'll need to document three years of qualifying experience (including your AXP experience). 

Does online proctoring work for both Macs and PCs?

Yes, online proctoring is available on both Macs and PCs. You must have administrative permissions on the computer you plan to use for testing. PSI’s Bridge secure browser may require you to modify computer settings and close prohibited programs.

Does NCARB still offer a $50 prepaid card for candidates' first online appointment?

NCARB is discontinuing the $50 rebate for candidates taking their first online proctored appointment effective July 1, 2023. This upcoming change is now noted in the Guidelines.

Does NCARB still deliver the ARE with Prometric?

No, NCARB does not deliver the ARE through Prometric's services, as of May 31, 2022. Going forward, candidates can take the ARE with PSI. 

Does my local licensing board accept exams taken via online proctoring?

Yes! All 55 U.S. licensing boards accept ARE divisions taken via online proctoring as well as in-person. 

Does my jurisdiction require the AXP?

Most of the 55 U.S. licensing boards require the AXP. Keep in mind, your jurisdiction may have additional experience requirements, as each jurisdiction sets its own requirements for initial licensure. Find out if your board accepts the AXP through our  licensing requirements tool.
