Philadelphia, PA—Robert M. Calvani, AIA, NCARB, founder and president of NCA Architects, LLC in Albuquerque, NM, was named an NCARB Regional Director at the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards 95th Annual Business Meeting. Calvani was elected by the Council’s Western Conference (Region 6), which is comprised of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Calvani was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Examiners for Architects in 2003 and has served as chair, vice-chair, and on various sub-committees including the Joint Practices Committee, which combines representatives from architecture, engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture.

Calvani has served on numerous NCARB committees since 2004, including several related to the development of the Architect Registration Examination, the multi-division test developed by NCARB and taken by all candidates seeking architectural registration in the United States. These include the ARE Subcommittee, where he was coordinator and later became chair, and the Examination Committee. In addition, Calvani served on the Test Specification Steering Committee and Test Specification Task Force, which developed the test specifications for ARE 5.0.

He also served on the 2012 Practice Analysis Task Force Steering Committee and as team leader on the Practice Analysis Task Force. He has also served on the Executive Committee of Region 6 and as chair of Region 6.

Calvani earned architectural degrees from both the University of New Mexico and UCLA. He has held an NCARB Certificate since 1981 and is licensed in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada.
