Philadelphia, PA—Susan B. McClymonds, AIA, CSI, CCS, SCIP, of Amsterdam, NY, was installed on the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Board of Directors at its 95th Annual Business Meeting. McClymonds will represent the Council’s Mid-Atlantic Conference (Region 2), which comprises Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
In 2005, McClymonds was appointed to the New York State Board for Architecture and has served as chair from 2009-2010. Since 2006, McClymonds has volunteered for multiple NCARB committees, including several related to the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®), the multi-division test developed by NCARB and taken by all candidates seeking architectural registration in the United States.
In addition to her service to NCARB, McClymonds has volunteered for several American Institute of Architect (AIA) committees on the state and national level and taught continuing education seminars at the AIA National Convention. She was elected president of AIA Eastern New York Chapter in 1996 and AIA New York State in 2002. She also served as committee chairperson of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) Eastern New York Chapter.
McClymonds is an independent specification consultant providing specifications and construction contracts consulting services to architects and organizations. She has over 20 years of experience in the preparation of specifications for a variety of project types including federal, state and municipal work, institutional, commercial, educational (K-12 and colleges/universities), multiple-unit housing, hospitality, laboratory, corporate and health-care facilities, along with extensive experience in specifying restoration/preservation work and sustainable projects.
McClymonds holds a BA from Wheaton College in Norton, MA, and a B.Arch from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She is a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) in New York State and SBA certified Small Woman-Owned Business. She is licensed to practice architecture in New York and New Jersey.
